Why anyone would one to go out looking like they have just woken up in a mess of split pea soup which also doubles as the same outfit they've been wearing for a month is very perturbing. This look was seen all over the 2010 runways and have even convinced the ever haunting Dr. Martin
to open a 2,000 square foot store in SoHo.
Alexandre Herchcovitch, John Richmond, Jill Sauders, Givenchy, Ann Demeulemeester, and Derek Lam
are just a few of the designers who now support women everywhere looking homeless, heavier, and stoned.

I hate this look
Ok. So it's wrong that I'm thrilled that grunge is coming back? I've been waiting on it, actually. Maybe I shouldn't subscribe to fashion blogs :(.
Having said that, the examples you've posted are hideous. Grunge belongs on the streets, not the runway...
Thank goodness, it allows me to not give a damn and still look acceptable!
I agree with Kris...grunge does belong on the streets and not the runway. It has it's place in fashion, but sometimes can be over done.
Please look at my post called "In Memory of..." It is for an Important cause. Tell other people to sign the petition and spread the word:)

so happy to have found your blog too! i couldn't agree with you more. no one, and i mean no one, can pull this off. even the models look dreadful!
Ah, those pictures are proof you can take grunge waaay too far!
Theres a difference between looking edgy, and looking like a hobo.
People really need to learn that.

I like aspects of this look, some of it just looks messy though. Also, it will always be around, I am sure of it.
Ooooh, I actually kind of like the grunge look. :\
Kate Moss, not like... Kurt Cobain.
I don't know, I think there's just a cool effortlessness in it? I agree that the runways need to give it a rest though, if for no other reason than it's been done.. and done... and done...
As for the list of designers, dare I say it? Alexander Wang! I very much like the whole grunge thing in moderation, though. How else can you wear florals without looking too prim?
I think what really annoys me about this "new grunge look" stuff is the fact that it's become fashionable. Wasn't that the whole point? 90's grunge mirrored the apathy of the era-we don't give a fuck about what we wear." And it's funny to see designers churning out ratty t-shirts and shredded jeans for thousands of dollars. That's the problem I have. If you're going to do grunge, do grunge. Not reconstituted designer "grunge-like".
The only thing worse than grunge is overalls... which are also back.
The worst then - obviously - would be grunge-overalls... ripped, torn, worn with only one strap latched, and costing over $500.
So Spring 2011?
