And Here Breaking Are Guest Blogging Cherry Is Vanessa From Optimal Optimist!

               Off the Rack

Hey Everyone!
I am so excited to be guest blogging for Brunch at Barney’s! Though I normally don’t blog about fashion, I do have a passion for it, and I think whether we’d like to admit it or not, fashion is a part of everyone’s life. (Yes, even those who insist on wearing Crocs because they’re “comfortable”). But regardless of your sense of style or whether you wear the newest Louboutin’s or those god-awful Sketcher’s Shape Ups, fashion has a way of representing our personalities, our tastes, our inspirations, and our views on the world.
So staying true to my blogging tradition of featuring a quote in each post, I thought I would feature one today that was spoken by a true fashion revolutionary, Coco Chanel. Though she marked her spot in the fashion industry nearly a century ago, she has left behind a legacy that will remain at the top for years to come. In this quote, we are reminded that fashion is not just a piece of fabric draped over our bodies, but a representation of the world around us and how each of us fits into it.
Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, and what is happening. –Coco Chanel
This is the reason she has created one of the biggest fashion empires in the world. Understanding that fashion goes beyond the garment and into the lives of those who wear each piece is what we should all be thinking about the next time we stand in front of our closets deciding what to wear. Fashion shouldn’t just be about getting this season’s newest pieces, strutting down a runway, or feeling totally chic as we walk down 5th Avenue with our Versace bags in tote. Fashion is about wearing what makes us feel confident, and what reflects our ideals about the world.
Fashion is all around us. Though it may seem like it resides eternally within the walls of our nearest Bergdorf’s or in the fashion houses in New York or Paris, it really is in the sky and in the street… it surrounds us each and every day.  For models, designers and fashionistas alike, fashion cannot only be defined by what sits on the rack,  but more importantly, what sits off the rack. Take a look around…fashion is everywhere.

Keep Smiling,

I agree... Fashion is everywhere... but those shape ups are bad fashion. If you want physical fitness, put on real sneakers and go to the gym, park further from the office, take a dance class - don't wear pseudo sneakers whose entire point is to put you off balance - when you fall on top of me while tripping in them I'm not going to care how your calves look. Great post!
